Please excuse me. I can read French, but I cannot write.

This is a fantastic utility. It really allows one to get their money's worth from a quad-core.

I have mentioned this to my friends already:

Thank you!

By the way, I do have one connection to a French company (I am American). I am a part owner of small French PC video game studio.

I am the only non-French investor. Smile

Hello,

Thanks for the post on WarGamer forum: it a really good presentation of the soft, and a nearly perfect "how to use it" guide Embarassed

Using your quad core like you do is exactly the main "philosophy" of my Process Manager !

In order to make an english version of my web site, can I use parts of your messages ?

Oh, and just a little trick: when you install the soft, if you select "English only" type of install, the soft will be directly in english at the first launch Cool

I did select English with the installer, but it came up in French. Just the installer text was in English.

Got to get to sleep - 3am here.

Right, but during the install process, you can select translations to install ... or not !

Fantastic utility! Setup-screen

Here, instead of "Full Install", if you choose "English only", Process Manager will be in english only without the ability to change language.

I let install with everything selected. That's what happened.

Yes, you are free to quote any of my English text for making your English site. I know you are looking for translators. I apologize, but I don't have enough time to do translation. But I will look over any English you do and give some feedback.

Bonne nuit.

Bill,

Just thought I would drop by and say that I am still using your incredibly useful and well thought out utility!

If not for you, I would not have been getting my money's worth out of four processor machine.

It's not just great for gamers/multi-taskers, it works in other environments too. My wife trades (although these days she probably cries more watching the quotes than trades) ...

Anyway, I got her a fast dual processor machine. One of her primary requirements was that her trading software (always running foreground or background) to be continously responsive while at the same time her financial software (a real CPU pig) also give instant response. I was able to do that by assigning processors and boosting the priority of the financial software. Whenever, it becomes the active window it then seizes the CPU from whatever else is running on that processor. When not active, it goes idle ... so HIGH priority does not matter.

Well, she was very pleased with the performance of her new setup. Thanks to you!

Take care, Bill.

Really thanks Smile

I'm happy to see my soft is used exactly the way it has been designed for!

You can have a look at my blog (in french, sorry) to see what will happen in a next future ...

Bill,

I noticed your acknowledgement/thanks of me on the download page. That was most kind of you. Thanks.

---

I am still using it. I wonder if Windows 7 will do any better handling load balancing than XP or Vista. What's the point of having 4 or 8 processors when the O/S overloads one and leave others idle?

It's a shame that you couldn't have gone commercial with this. If you could have, you could have added some standard auto-tuning profiles or a profiler that would run for a few days and then build a profile. I've hand tuned. Your profiles basically would guarantee a noticeable performance boost say on a quad-core for a power user. So, 30 day trial. Enough time for the buyer to see the difference and realize for $20 USD that you made a $1000 USD worth of investment in the CPU mean something.

Bonne Anne! (sorry USD keyboard; not accents)

Hello,

If a process uses 100% of a CPU and is not optimized for multi core, Windows can't do anything to optimize the usage.

My most just help you to force the CPU te be used.

For the profiler, I'm sorry, I've not already worked on it for the moment.

I still working on v3.3, a little refresh of the web site, and other stuff related to v3.3.

Once this version is out, I may try to think to an automatic profiler.

Yes, I realize that you cannot do time slicing across processors. However, I find that most people have one or more set patterns to using their systems. So, just correct setting of affinities is enough to make a huge difference. Of course, to dynamically profile and rebalance every few minutes would require a very sophisticated PM, but long-term profiling and static balancing shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Although PM has the potential to yield huge increases in throughput, I think the thing most users will notice and either adopt or not adopt PM for is response time. Afterall, the PC is largely used as an interactive platform. Correct placement (affinity) of things such as email, browser, utilities, games, ... Can make a quad core incredibly responsive compared to how XP or Vista handles things by default.

Well, keep up the good work. I just wanted to wish you well for the New Years! Smile
